EXCLUSIVE TRAINING TO SUIT YOUR NEEDS
training for Kronospan fire and rescue from Chirk in North Wales
Fire-Aid International have supplied a refurbished m reg ex London Volvo FL6 14 to Kronospan fire and rescue for their large production plant in Wales
Some of the crew came down to train on the new vehicle at the Wessex Fire and Rescue training centre in Sopley Hampshire
As you can see the vehicle has been resprayed and restriped ,new bar light and L-E-D front and rear repeaters
It has been fitted with a 100 gallon foam tank in the drivers side 1st locker
It has also been fitted with a new C.A.F.S system in the oic side front locker as can be seen in pic
The crew testing the new C.A.F.S system on the live fire training ground at Sopley
As you can see it worked very well
The crew then tried out the foam system using training foam
The pill box reached a temp of 500 degrees
The new system put the fire out in seconds
As you can see the ARGUS 3 THERMAL IMAGE CAMERA supplied by E2V TECHNOLOGIES shows the heat
Our thanks to Chris and Simon Rowley of Fire- Aid International for the pics of the training day
Kimmeridge volunteer fire service near Wareham in Dorset came to us to use the BA search & rescue and smoke chamber for all their crew members in April 2007
THE CREWS ARE BRIEFED AND EQUIPMENT CHECKED PRIOR TO ENTERING THE BUILDING
THE FIRST PAIR ENTER THE SMOKE CHAMBER VIA THE FLAP
AND THE NEXT PAIR ARE READY TO FOLLOW THEM IN
crew members had special BA masks to make it look like it was full of smoke in the building they then had to work there way around the building
Part of the building is designed as a confined space area it gets smaller as you go in the tunnel
As you can see there are always plenty of trained personnel to keep an eye on things
THEY FIND THE LARGE DUMMY AND REMOVE HIM TO A SAFE LOCATION
We let the crew use both steel and composite BA cylinders so as to get used to the different weights
When all the crews were happy with just masks and then wearing the sets on there back we went on to stage 3 fill the building with a non toxic smoke and hide a casualty
As you can see it does not take long to fill with smoke and the crews got to work and found both dummies
ALL CREWS ENTERED VIA THE BA MAIN CONTROL AND TALLIES WERE MARKED WITH THE TIME
An excellent job was done by the crews from Kimmeridge thanks to Ian and Keith Welsh their officers who are both serving firefighters with Dorset fire and rescue service based at Wareham fire station
